Weekend Adventures!

It's been awhile since I updated the blog, but here are some of our latest weekend adventures.  One weekend we went to The Garden of The Gods.  There were many beautiful rock formations and the weather was beautiful!  It was warm and sunny.  We took a picnic and spent the day wandering around.  We went to a little town there called Manitou.  There were lots of little tourist shops.  We enjoyed just walking around and seeing all the different things there.

Trey decided to climb up inside of the rocks.

Hailey liked how the rocks feel!

Just like any other child she loves to climb on the rocks!

Mom and I did not climb the rocks we just looked at them.

Then later in January we drove over to a ski town called Breckenridge.  They hold an international snow sculpting contest.  It was really cool to see.  We went in the afternoon and it was very cold! The wind kept blowing for awhile.  We would look at the sculptures then go inside a building and warm up then come back out.  We also took a picnic dinner and ate it inside while we waited for the lights to come on.  It was a very fun day!

The sculpters start with a block of snow that is 10x10x12 feet.  Then the teams have a total of 65 hours during the week to sculpt.  There were some amazing things sculpted there and the detail was incredible! They also use some interesting tools such as a cheese grater.
This is what the blocks look like to start out.
